Calm the fuck down

Sorry to use language that some of you might find offputting, but I needed to get your attention. We have a problem. Too many people are making too much out of too little, and they need to calm the fuck down. Minor incidents become huge stories, and small problems are made out to be life-or-death situations or grave threats to our country/freedom/way of life/whatever. Please, everyone - I implore you to settle down. Who's to blame for this freak-out? 9/11, cable news, and self-important bloggers. Overreacting following 9/11 was somewhat understandable, but we can't keep using that as an excuse. Cable news networks cram the same shit down our throats over and over, and when we tell them we're full, they cram some more down... and then a blowhard tells us what he thinks about all of it. Seriously, Greta, do you need to dedicate an hour a day to that white girl who disappeared in Aruba? And bloggers do the same thing as cable news networks, only more egregiously. My dear friend Mr. Gribbit from Stop the ACLU is a prime example. Check out any of his posts and enjoy the dead-serious tone, the name-calling, and the random threats. Honestly, who punctuates posts on Iran with pictures of mushroom clouds?

If you'd like to have a calm, rational discussion about something that really matters, I'm all ears, but if you're going to go all O'Reilly on me, please stay away.

Here are a few examples of things I really don't want to hear about anymore:
So instead of focusing on those non-issues, let's talk about these instead (but calmly and rationally, remember):
Aside from those discussions, there are a few more things you can do to help out: 1) Read The Onion - Remember their 9/11 coverage, which appeared under a "HOLY FUCKING SHIT - Attack On America" banner? Proof that nothing is sacred and we're all too uptight. 2) Watch The Daily Show and Colbert - News and editorials don't have to be dull and boring. 3) Spend some time outside - The weather's very nice this time of year.

Bah! I'm not worried about some poor Mexican trying to feed his family all that much..I'm more concerned over legitimate border concerns such as a terrorist getting a bomb through. Strong borders are important. And commie, is just a fun slang word I like to throw around when stupid socialist minded twits espouse their idiotic ideas. It is the commie ideals that are creeping into our society and slowly causing it to rust from within.
